What if my situation is an Emergency? The Scholarship Program does provide Emergency Funding to families who meet our “Emergency Criteria”. Families must submit a “Emergency Petition” included with the Scholarship Application. The “Emergency Petition” must state the specifics of your situation and the reason why you are applying for immediate funding. All “Emergency Petitions” are submitted to the Scholarship Committee for review. Petitioning for emergency funds does not guarantee funding however. How is placement on the Waiting List Determined? No, the Scholarship Program is not a solely income-based program! Priority is given to children four years of age with no previous preschool experience in the Preschool category. Information on all other applications provided is used to determine a “Child Need Score” for each eligible child. This score ranges from 1-26. Children with the highest “Child Need Score” are typically awarded first. This is why it is crucial to have complete applications with all required documentation. Without these documents, we cannot accurately assign the correct “Child Need Score” for that child or family. We also take into consideration the date the application was submitted and if there are any extenuating circumstances prompting the need of the Scholarship Award. I’m a stay home parent. Is my child still eligible? Yes. Families who have one or more stay home parent, or one or more parent enrolled in school are eligible for a Part-Time Scholarship Award only. What is the difference between Full-Time and Part-Time care? Children eligible for Full-Time care must attend at minimum, 30 hours per week at their provider’s facility. Part-Time care is anything under 30 hours per week. If a family is Awarded Full-Time care and attends below 30 hours per week without notifying the Scholarship Program, they will be placed on a Part-Time Scholarship Award. |
